How to get bone chips from mining in FFXIV? ›

Go out the northern gate of Ul'Dah, then head northeast (mostly east), and find a station that has railroad tracks running to the north. Follow the tracks a little until you see a ridge to the right. Bone Chips will be in the mining points there.

This quest is available after completing Proof of Might and obtaining level 30 Lancer and 15 Marauder. Speak with Ywain in Old Gridania. He will send you to the Coerthas Central Highlands to speak with Alberic.

Mob loot. Skeletons, wither skeletons, skeleton horses, and strays may drop 0–2 bones upon death. The maximum drop is increased by 1 per level of Looting, for a maximum of 0-5 bones with Looting III. In Bedrock Edition, salmon, cod, pufferfish, and tropical fish have 25% chance to drop 1-2 bones upon death.

Qty. The Bone Pickaxe is a pickaxe that is capable of mining all ores up to Meteorite / Demonite/Crimtane. It has a 1/20 (5%) / 1/50 (2%) chance of being dropped by Undead Miners, uncommon enemies found in the Cavern layer.

The node will appear as an Unspoiled Mining Deposit that only spawns from 1:00 am to 4:00 am Eorzea Time. Accordingly, if Miners arrive too early or late to the node's location, the Darksteel Ore will not be available.
