What is the best degree for a paralegal? ›

The Associate of Science in Paralegal Studies prepares students for paralegal practice, to earn a bachelor's degree in legal studies, political science, or any number of other law-related majors, or even to pursue a Juris Doctor degree to become an attorney.

There are no statewide mandatory certifications for paralegals in New York. However, most paralegal jobs in the state will require the completion of an associate degree or a certificate in paralegal studies.

Obtain the training and expertise to pursue or advance a career in the legal field you're most passionate about, including environmental law, taxation, corporate law, and international business.

Applicants must be at least eighteen years old and hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university or its international equivalent to be eligible to enroll in the Juris Doctor (JD) program. Students matriculate in the fall semester on a full-time basis only.

At NYU Law, a low GPA is 3.72, while a high GPA is 3.94. The median is 3.85. Your GPA should be in the median range, but you can still get in if your GPA is 3.85 or lower. One of my clients, D.C., got into Georgetown with a 3.6 GPA – far lower than the school's 3.85 median.

NYU Law School admissions are extremely competitive, much like many of the top Ivy League law schools. While the average national acceptance rate for law schools is around 45%, it is much more difficult to get accepted into NYU Law School.

Curriculum requirements include general education, electives, and legal specialty courses. The four-year program normally encompasses both generalist and specialist courses.
