A Community TIMES-PRESS Streator, Thursday, October 22, 1987 3 LaSalle County court news INDICTED Paul R. Shanks, 17, of 755 Bluff Marseilles, was indicted for four counts of burglary, a Class 2 felony, one count of residential burglary, a Class 1 felony, and one count of theft, a Class 3 felony. LaSalle County State's Attorney Gary Peterlin said Shanks is charged with burglarizing four businesses in the Marseilles and Seneca area between July 19 and Oct. 5. The residential burglary charge alleges that Shanks entered the dwelling of a Marseilles resident in August with the intent of committing a theft.

Shanks also is charged with theft for allegedly taking a canoe that did not belong to him while at a lake in LaSalle. Juan Solano, 29, of 813 W. Jackson Ottawa, was indicted for two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, a Class 2 felony, for allegedly delivering less than 10 grams of a substance containing cocaine to undercover Obituaries George Berta George Berta, 73, Delmonte Trailor Court, died at 6 a.m. today at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria. John Hert 1912-1987 Services for John E. Hert, 74, of Rural Route 5, Streator, who died at 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hagi Funeral Home.

The Rev. John McClimans will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Hagi Funeral Home.

Born Nov. 9, 1912, in Bernie, he was the son of Elmer and Emma (Mark) Hert. He married Irene Murphy on Nov. 12, 1931, in Streator. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, John Hert Gerald and Leo Hert, all of rural Streator; one daughter, Virginia (Mrs. Glen) Cole, of Grand Ridge; 10 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; one greatgranddaughter; and one sister, Dolly Krasnician, of Streator. 1 Hew was preceded in death by two sisters, Mae and Lucille, and two brothers, Cylo and Clyde. A rural Streator resident most of. his life, he farmed for many years.

James Schmitt 1933-1987 James R. Schmitt, 54, died suddenly Oct. 20. Surviving are his wife, the former Pat Uebler; his mother, Leone B. Schmitt, of Streator; and four daughters, Cheryl Bowling, Terri Schmitt, Vicki Super and Nicki Omori.

He was preceded in death by his father, James J. Schmitt, in 1968. A Korean War veteran, he joined Owe Glass Company on June 12, 1951. Prior to his employment with 0-I, he worked at Westside Leader Grocery Store.
